Multi channel support amongst DAW's is not very well standardized. Boom recorder supports it, REAPER supports it and that's all I need. There's only one uncompressed multi-channel file format in use AFAIK. It does 128 channels over MADI, if needed. I record with Boom recorder, which only does recording, not even playback of previously recorded tracks. I record 16 channels 48 kHz/24 bit on a G4 from time to time. I was hoping 10.12.5 would do it, but that was mainly a security fix. Too many audio setups seem to bring trouble for some. Stay away from Sierra until Apple has ironed out the problems. But then, Audio Hijack Pro from Rogue Amoeba is better, even if it costs a few dollars. It can be handy to record internal audio (from YouTube, fi.). I'd avoid it, because it's no longer maintained. REAPER even does video, these days, which makes Youtube just a bit easier to live with, if you upload music to YT. However, if you rely heavily on midi and VSTi's, Logic and Cubase are the ones to look at. 7.1: 7.1.Performance wise, REAPER is the one to beat. It's on the developer's list and both Apogee and Presonus are also aware of the problems, so perhaps their next driver update may help. If not, I'm afraid the work around you've found is about all we can offer at the moment. Let me know if there's any change at all. Click on this to open your user's Library folder. Special note for OS 10.7 Lion and OS 10.8 Mt. Go to Mac HD > Users > your profile > Library > Applications Support > Avid > Sibelius 7 and drag the Playback Configuration Folder, Plogue Engine Folder and PlaybackConfig.xml file to the trash. Go to Mac HD > Users > your profile > Library > Preferences and drag the to the trash. To trash preferences and playback configurations: Please try trashing the preferences and playback configurations and see if reseting them helps. I don't know if the changes in 7.1.3 may have helped. There were known issues with Duet and Presonus with earlier versions of Sibelius 7. Anyone having this problem, or am I the only lucky one? According to Sibelius, I shouldn't be the only one. Finally got a response and it's so far of no help. 7.1: 7.1.3 Playback Problems on all but Built-in Output (Core Audio) - Stutteringįor anyone who's interested. The only similar cases I've seen in the forum pertain to 7.1.2 updates, etc. I'm not having system performance problems. For reference, I can record multiple tracks with a buffer of 64 with software monitoring sending out multiple headphone mixes, i.e. So after any change to sounds or sound config, I have to switch audio devices to Built-in and then back to the Duet or Firepod. The problem occurs while using the after loading a new score, changing the sound config in an open score, or adding instrument(s) to an open score - anything that causes a reload of sounds (which is very slow by the way). These devices work flawlessly with all other software including Sib 6. I use both an Apogee Duet (firewire, Maestro 2) and a Presonus Firepod/FP10. On all audio devices other than the built-in output (laptop speakers) I cannot play back without stuttering after loading sounds without switching the audio engine to Built-in, leaving the dialog and then switching back to my device. I have a late 2011 Macbook Pro, OS 10.7.5, i7 quad, 8GB RAM, Sib 6.latest and recently Sin 7.1.3 (new install with latest versions of everything, no updates yet).
